First Carbon Neutral School

Congratulations to the Quebec engineering firm gbi, recipient of two awards at the 2021 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards, for its work on L’École Curé-Paquin in Saint Eustache: the Award of Excellence in Building, but also the Engineering Prize for a Better Canada, which rewards the project that has best demonstrated how engineering improves the quality of social, economic or cultural life of Canadians. The Visionary Prize was also awarded to both the consulting engineering firm gbi and the Center de services scolaire des Mille-Îles for the construction of the Curé-Paquin elementary school.

L’OEUF Architects, through our Integrated Design Process, collaborated on this very innovative project which is the first school to receive in 2019 the certification “Zero Carbon Building – CaGBC Design”. More than an institutional project, it is a real place of life. Much work has been done with multiple stakeholders, including the community of Saint-Eustache. It seemed obvious that such a project, a structural element of the community, could offer even more to allow greater social integration, for a school of tomorrow that brings together, unites and further promotes the human bond and the development of everyone.

Eric Pelletier paid tribute to us at the last awards ceremony for the vision shared throughout his years of collaboration.
